BHOPAL: The wait for
monsoon is likely to get longer this year too, as the south-west monsoon is expected to hit
Bhopal on June 25, a delay of eight days from its official onset date of June 18. However, there is a good news that the state would get average rainfall from June 1 to September 30 this year, a big boost for conventional crops.
The officials of meteorological department, Bhopal circle, said the monsoon is expected to hit the
Kerala coast on June 6 and it would take almost a fortnight for the rain clouds to reach MP.
"In Bhopal, we expect the monsoon to come by the last week of June", said meteorologist Uday Sarwate. The monsoon is expected to be 97 per cent in the state this year as El Nino would not have much impact. Though delay in monsoon may come as a dampener for people in the state, they must take solace from the news that the heat is likely to come down after the first week of June.
