MP tops two categories in Poshan Abhiyaan awards
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has bagged first place in two categories of awards for Poshan Abhiyaan-2019 scheme.
It’s a central government campaign, aimed at motivating people to join the fight against malnutrition. Women and child development (WCD) minister Smriti Irani gave away the awards at a function in New Delhi on Friday. Senior IAS officer Anupam Rajan, who heads MP’s WCD department, collected the awards on behalf of the state.

MP received cheques of Rs 1 crore each for topping in two categories — ‘Convergence and Behavioural Change & Community Mobilization’ and ‘ICDS- CAS implementation’ — plus a second price of Rs 75 lakh for ‘Overall Excellence in Implementation’.
Addressing the award ceremony, Irani said that 363 awards were given out, and Rs 22 crore disbursed to the awardees. She expressed hope that with the help of all the stakeholders, the challenges of malnutrition will be addressed and the country will become malnutrition-free. “The government has set a target to connect with 44 crore people through a month-long Poshan Abhiyaan. Last year, 22 crore people added through this programme,” she said. The awards were given to states, districts, blocks and anganwadi workers for ensuring that it reaches every household in the country.
