Teachers to get lessons on traffic rules

Teachers to get lessons on traffic rules
Bhopal:
In a meeting of district administration, traffic police, district education department and principals of 70 CBSE schools, it was decided that teachers will be trained on how to increase road safety awareness.
The proposal was made by the traffic police so that the teachers can in turn train the students.
The meeting was held at Campion School on Friday.

ASP Traffic, Pradeep Chouhan said, “The safety of students is of prime importance, and so they should be made aware of road safety and traffic rules. As it is not possible for us to conduct workshops in every school, we will request schools to send one teacher from each school for training. These teachers can then further train more teaches as well as the students of their school.”
District education officer, KPS Tomar said, “We have also observed that many schools violate several safety guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court as well as CBSE bylaws. We asked schools to abide by the safety norms to prevent mishaps in school and school vehicles.”

In addition to road safety, issues regarding prescription of private publisher’s books instead of NCERT books, weight of school bags, school fee hike, among others were also discussed at the meeting.
“We have asked schools to stick to CBSE bylaws and not recommend books of private publishers as part of the course. If students wish to buy them as reference books, then it is up to them, but CBSE schools should try to use NCERT books as far as possible,” said the DEO.
He further hinted that Private School Fee Regulation Act will be implemented once the rules are finalised, and schools should keep the guidelines in mind before increasing fee.
