BHUBANESWAR: Anti-corruption crusader and activist
Anna Hazare arrived here on Wednesday on his three-day Odisha visit. He was taken to the
State Guest House escorted by a motor-cycle rally.
According to his programme schedule, he will address a massive conclave of the farmers in
Jagatsinghpur on Thursday. The farmers’ conclave is organised by the
Navanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS).
He discussed with some
farmer leaders about their condition.
Later he told media persons that farmers should be given justified price for their agricultural produces. Both the state and Centre should think about this seriously, he added.
“I have decided to take up the farmer’s issue in the national level. We will organise a dharna in New Delhi in February to raise the issues of the peasants and implementation of Jan Lokpal,” he added.
He expressed concern over the farmer suicide cases in the state. “I think the state government should provide pension to the farmers, so that they can run their family members after they lose crop,” he added.
