Bus fare gets cheaper in Odisha
BHUBANESWAR: Drop in diesel price has prompted the state government to decrease the fare of buses of different categories on Wednesday.
State Transport Authority (STA) has issued an order on Wednesday to decrease bus fare by two paise per kilometer in both ordinary and express buses. Ordinary buses will charge 68 paise per km as compared to the previous fare of 70 paise per km, while express buses will charge 71 paise per km against its previous rate 73 paise per km.
Similarly, four paise have been cut in the fare of both Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses.
The deluxe and AC deluxe bus fares have been deceased to 97 paise per km and Rs 1.19 per km, respectively, said the sources.
“Due to decrease in diesel price from Rs 73.56 as on November 28 to Rs 69.27 as on Wednesday, leading to price reduced by Rs 4.29, the fare for stage carriages other than town buses plying within the state shall be fixed at decreased rate. It will be effective from the date of issue of order,” said the STA.
Last time, fare of ordinary and express buses were decreased on November 29.
