BHUBANESWAR: The establishment of a regulatory authority to monitor the quality of healthcare services and formulation of a comprehensive state policy for education are among the demands made by health and education rights groups and Civil Services Organisation (CSO) after consultations with people.
The charter of demands, which was released here on Monday, will be submitted to chief minister Naveen Patnaik, other ministers and also political parties for implementation.

"Political parties promise many things in their manifestos, but they do not fulfil everything they promise. The charter of demands aims to ensure affirmative commitment from the elected representatives as well as political parties to keep the promises made in the manifestos," Anil Pradhan, member secretary of Sikshasandhan, a voluntary organisation, said. A patient satisfaction survey was conducted to get their feedback on healthcare services and to set up a legitimate grievance redressal system. The health policy should have a state authority of medical employment board to regulate the appointments in the health department. the charter pointed out.
