Bhubaneswar now has nil Covid active case

Odisha capital Bhubaneswar on Monday become coronavirus free with the recovery of all the 48 COVID-19 patients in the city, an official said.

BHUBANESWAR: The capital city, which was accorded red zone for spurt in Covid19 cases in March-April is left with no more active positive cases after three more recovered from the viral infection. The city had reported 50 positive cases. While two died, others have fully recovered.
The state capital was first to report any Corona positive case on March 15 and then it went on adding up with single day highest of 18 cases in April 5 followed by 10 on April 3.
The last three cases the city reported was on May 7. The state government continued to keep the city under red category post third phase lockdown as there were still 15 active cases.
Prem Chandra Chaudhury, commissioner, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) said active surveillance, monitoring, health mapping in the household levels and aggressive testing along with strict enforcement of social distancing helped us bring the spread under control. “We don’t have any more positive case now but that doesn’t mean we will be complacent. There may be a few cases in the later stage as people from outside have come- both from abroad and outside the state. That’s why our future course of action will be to aggressive community sensitization,” he told TOI.
He further said they have not only evolved Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the ones currently under home quarantine in the city but also there is SOP for the neighbours. “We will redraw the zone as well as other relaxations and restrictions for Bhubaneswar as fourth phase lockdown has been in force from Monday. However, the markets- vegetables, fish and meat- will continue to run from where it has been running after being relocated from their original places,” the commissioner added.
The BMC had not created containment zones in the three localities, which had reported three cases together 10 days ago, the latest ones. The localities were Mancheswar, VSS Nagar and Surya Nagar.
Earlier, it had removed containment tag from three areas- Satyanagar, Bomikhal and Suryanagar for not reporting any case for two weeks.
Altogether, thirteen localities here reported 50 Corona positive cases here. The localities are Bomikhal, Suryanagar, Jharpada, Satyanagar, Unit-IV, Unit-V , BJB Nagar, Badagad, Saheed Nagar, Kapila Prasad, Mancheswar, VSS Nagar and Gymkhana Palm Heights.
Suryanaagar was the first one to become a containment zone followed by Bomikhal, which had highest 18 positive cases.
