Howrah-Jagdalpur Samaleshwari Express (train number 18005) got derailed near Keutaguda station in Rayagada district on Friday. No injury or casualty has been reported.

BHUBANESWAR: The Howrah-Jagdalpur Samaleshwari Express (train number 18005) got derailed near Keutaguda station in Rayagada district on Friday. No injury or casualties have been reported.
East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said the Jagdalpur-bound train was coming from Howrah. Two wheels of the train engine got derailed at around 5.15pm. The driver stopped the train after the wheels came out of the track, it added.

The accident happened between Singapur Road station and Keutaguda station.

“Because of the presence of mind of the driver, the train was stopped immediately. It saved us from a major accident,” said Mukesh Rout, a passenger.
J P Mishra, chief public relations officer of ECoR, said coaches are not derailed in the accident. “Only two wheels of the engine got out of the track. Passengers and coaches are safe. A relief train has been sent to the derailment site for rescue operation,” he added.

As rail section has a single line, the engine will be taken to Rayagada and the coaches will be kept at Singapur Road.

The accident happened between Singapur Road station and Keutaguda station. As the rail section has a single line, the engine will be taken to Rayagada and the coaches will be kept at Singapur Road. An extra engine has been sent to the site to bring the coaches of the train back to Singapur station. The relief train will get the derailed engine back to Rayagada.
Later, the original coaches of the express train will move from Singapur Road to Koraput. The entire operation is likely to continue till 10pm, said railway sources.
