OSRTC buses to ply on five new routes

SAMBALPUR: To strengthen public transport, the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation is planning to run 10 new hi-tech buses on five new long routes connecting Sambalpur and Burla with Andhra Pradesh besides Ganjam, Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts by September-end.
The new routes include Burla-Polasara-Burla, Sambalpur-Baliguda-Sambalpur, Jharsuguda-Daringbadi-Jharsuguda, Sambalpur-Bhawanipatna-Sambalpur and Sambalpur-Visakhapatnam- Sambalpur.
The 10 new hi-tech buses with 41 seats each will be procured for the purpose. District transport manager (Sambalpur) Rajendra Pujari said, "We have already sent a proposal to the government to run new buses on the new routes. People of this area have been demanding OSRTC buses. We sent the proposal to the government to run the buses following demand from the people," he said. He also expressed hope that they will get the buses to run on the new long distance routes within three months.
