Actor-comedian Papu Pam Pam, who landed in a controversy recently over a distasteful and misogynist poster of his upcoming film, had landed himself in another one when an audio clip of him verbally abusing sprinter Dutee Chand started circulating. He could be heard making scathing personal remarks against the sprinter, after she openly expressed her dislike for the poster and demanded an apology from the film’s producer, director and Papu.
He has finally apologised to Dutee on television.

Following his apology on live TV, in which Dutee also took part over phone, she forgave the actor. “Since the actor realised his mistakes and apologised to me through a television channel in full public view, I forgave him. I appeal to Papu bhai to raise voice against discrimination and exploitation of women, as this will help women get respect in our society,” wrote Dutee on social media.
Papu, alias Tattwa Prakash Satpathy, was seen admitting that the voice in the audio clip was his. “It was part of a conversation with a reporter who irritated me enough to extract such an angry reaction. It was a personal conversation, which was made public. I spoke all these things at the spur of the moment, and I didn’t mean them. I see Dutee as a younger sister and I admire her for all her achievements. I apologise for my remarks,” he said.
A few days ago, the poster, which depicting Papu holding on to leashes tied to the necks of several girls kneeling in front of him, was circulated on social media after the actor used it as his WhatsApp status. Many people disliked the poster and criticised the actor, director and producer of the film for such a vulgar poster. Social activist Linkan Subudhi even lodged a police complaint against the production house, demanding removal of the poster and an apology for such vulgarity and disrespect shown to women.
