For people who enjoy story-telling and listening to stories, Unmukt Creative Centre hosted a story-telling session, House of Stories, recently in the city. Tape A Tale, a popular story-telling platform, organised the event and presented people an opportunity to share their personal stories in a safe, homely and intimate environment and House of Stories was one of their versions. Around 20 people took part in the event and from them, 10 shared their stories.

Sweta Mishra, a young travel enthusiast and content writer, spoke about her recent solo trip to Rishikesh.
She spoke about the impact of the trip on her and how much changes it brought in her. “I also shared some fun moments from the trip and it was interesting how the participants were listening to each other’s stories so intently,” she said.
Another participant, Shagufta Jabeen, shared a story about special children and people’s insensitivity towards them. She has a special child and had a very close special friend about whom she spoke in this session. Similarly, another participant, Soumitri, spoke about his experience of coming out of the closet to his parents and his experiences with life and society. Those who were among the audience also pitched in to talk about stories. Most of the people shared thoughts on their relationships, their unrequited love and the complications in family.
Sourav Pattanayak, who organised the event, said listening to the participants made him realise that one story that everyone related to was how love is a never expressed at home, especially when it comes to one’s father. “House of Stories has been a popular event in several cities of India like Mumbai and Bangalore and Delhi. It was the first edition in Bhubaneswar and the appreciation and participation it got from city people was overwhelming,” he said.
