Tambola, drawings make for a fun outing

BHUBANESWAR: The enthusiasm of kids and their parents of Gymkhana Palm Heights apartment at Shampur here on Saturday made the Times Evening event a beautiful and memorable one. The event was organised by The Times of India in association with The Wisdom Tree Global School, Kindergarten as a part of people connect initiative.
The children and adult residents of the apartment and their friends and family participated in a series of competitions like sit-and-draw, musical chair and Times Tambola.
"I enjoyed the event thoroughly and took part in the competitions. It was a fun-filled evening," said Binapani Tripathy, a resident of the apartment.
Children aged between four and 14 years danced to the tune of Bollywood numbers and took part in the drawing competition.
They depicted their original thoughts on the environment, nature, animals and civic issues on their drawing papers. Aditi Samal, Ananya Roul and Shreya Parida got first, second and third prizes respectively. Baibhav Tripathy got a special prize for his unique drawing on media and social messages.
"We gave a presentation on our child-friendly environment, structured infrastructure and age-appropriate crafted curriculum with the support of our trained facilitators. Our engaging videos enabled the audience to understand how children absorb knowledge in a fun way. The methodologies followed at The Wisdom Tree Global School, Kindergarten, are exclusively designed keeping global practices followed across the world in mind," said Suneeta Mohanty, headmistress of the school.

A pleasant and breezy evening added to the fun of the range of activities. Monaswini Das, Tanushree Mishra and Binapani Tripathy received first, second and third prizes respectively in musical chairs.
In the Times Tambola competition, Indu, Arman Sahu, Aditi Samal and Harshit won prizes.
Sadananda Panigrahy, a senior citizen of the Gymkhana Palm Heights community appreciated the programme for its reach. "Involvement of children in competitions is a good thing. They get exposure to near their locality. Women and other people of the community can enjoy the event together. These type of events should be organised regularly," he added.
