BHUBANESWAR: Union rural development secretary
Amarjeet Sinha on Thursday emphasized on expeditious implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram
Sadak Yoyja (PMGSY).
During a joint review meeting here at the state secretariat along with chief secretary A P Padhi, the Union secretary asked the state government to enhance the current years’ target to construct 10,000 km road under PMGSY.
It was revealed during the review meeting that against the target to construct 7000 km road connecting 2800 habitations under the PMGSY, the state rural development department has so far completed construction of more than 2100 km road projects, said an official statement issued by the chief secretary’s office.
The chief secretary has asked the rural development department to submit the detail project report (DPR) of all feasible projects within 15 days. During the meeting, the state government also urged the Centre to sanction DPRs of 265 road projects pending with the Union rural development ministry.
It was decided in the meeting that the DPRs for connecting 92 habitations in
Malkangiri district would be submitted for approval after completion of the
Gurupriya bridge which was targeted to be ready by March, 2018.
According to sources, overall the state government has so far completed construction of 42,058 km of road under the PMGSY, while 14,800 km of roads connecting 3492 habitations would be completed by March, 2019.
The PMGSY is being implemented with fund sharing pattern of 60:40 between the Centre and the state government respectively.
