1-hr rain doesn't wipe out humidity
CHANDIGARH: Moderate to heavy downpour on Wednesday evening provided residents with a much needed respite from the muggy weather prevailing for the past few days.
However, as soon as the rain subsided, humidity levels once again shot up. For around half-an-hour, it was pouring heavily in Chandigarh; though most roads were flooded with rainwater, residents were a happy lot as strong breeze accompanying the showers made the weather even more pleasant.
A meteorological department official told TOI that they expect more rains to lash the Tricity in the coming days.

The official said, ‘‘The rising humidity levels are clear indications that we would receive moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 24-48 hours. The next few days are expected to be hot and humid.’’
Rakesh Sharma of Sector 9 said, ‘‘The heavy downpour was a pleasant break from the warm climate. We expected it to rain for a little while longer but it stopped after just an hour. Now, the dampness is back.’’
Resident of Sector 22 Kiran Ahuja said, ‘‘We were planning to go watch a movie but we did not mind having to delay the plan. It rained for a short while but it did provide some relief.’’
Mayank Khosla of Sector 10 said, ‘‘The weather had been so warm. I had expected it to rain at least for a few hours. If it had, waterlogging would have made travel tough.’’
