2 held for illegal mining in Panchkula
Police also seized four vehicles from the two accused
PANCHKULA: Police on Monday arrested two persons for carrying out illegal sand and gravel mining in Chandimandir area and seized four vehicles.
Police said they received tip-off regarding the illegal activity being conducted near Jaswantgarh village in Ramgarh by a group of residents of Raipur Rani.
A police team found that a JCB machine, two tipper trucks and a Hyundai i-20 car at the spot.
When the cops reached, tipper trucks were being loaded with gravel and sand. Cops managed to catch two accused. They are Sardara Singh, a resident of Bagga village, and Khan Mohammad, a resident of Sultanpur, Raipur Rani.
The accused were booked under Sections 379 (punishment for theft), 431 (mischief by injury to public road, bridge, river or channel) and 120-B (punishment for criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 21 (4) of the Mines and Mineral Act in Chandimandir police station.
Sub-inspector (SI) Kashmir Singh, in-charge Ramgarh police post, the investigation officer, said, “We have seized four vehicles and arrested two persons. The investigation is going on.”
The registration number of the vehicles were HR-04-E-3894 (Hyundai i20) and HR-37-C-8964 and PB11ZN (T)-5268 (tipper trucks). The JCB machine did not have any registration number. Till date, the mining department and Chandimandir police have registered a total of 14 cases under Mines and Mineral Act in which over 35 persons have been booked.
