4 of 5 Hisar kidnapping accused are graduates
Hisar: Hisar police arrested five men for kidnapping for ransom, out of which four are graduates, including an aeronautical engineer and former employee of Kingfisher Airlines. Those arrested have been identified as Anoop, a resident of Mohali in Punjab, Dharmachand alias DC, a resident of Tiba Nangal village of Ropar district of Punjab, Sanjay, a resident of Azad Nagar in Hisar, and Suresh and Vinod, both residents of Adampur town of Hisar.
The accused were arrested for allegedly abducting property dealer Rajender Kumar of Shyam Vihar Colony in Hisar.
They released him after taking Rs 5.5 lakh as ransom. The police said cars, pistols and cartridges were recovered from the accused, but no ransom money was found yet.
During interrogation accused Anoop said he had done B Tech in aeronautical engineering and was working in now defunct Kingfisher Airlines between 2003 and 2007. After that he started his own engineering business in which he suffered losses.
Dharmachand told the police he had done B Tech (electrical) and had started a shop in which he also incurred a heavy loss. Sanjay said he had completed his bachelors in business administration and Vinod Kumar had completed his B.Ed after graduating in humanities. The police said Suresh used to run his business too in Adampur, which also ran into losses.
According to police, the accused planned the kidnapping to make money to cover their losses. The incident occurred on July 24 evening when three men came to Rajender’s office on Mirzapur road in Hisar and expressed their wish to buy a plot on the Delhi bypass. Rajender went with them in their car and showed them plots.
On their way back, one of them put a gun on him and demanded Rs 20 lakh as ransom for his release.
