CHANDIGARH: The city received the second highest one-day rainfall (91mm) in August in a decade on Sunday.
The Chandigarh meteorological department counts 24 hours from 8.30am. The highest oneday rainfall in a decade was recorded on August 22, 2017, when it rained 115.2mm in 24 hours. After 8.30am on Sunday, the city observatory recorded 19.1mm rainfall till 5.30pm.
At the IAF observatory, 98.4mm rainfall was recorded till 8.30am and 19.1mm rainfall till 5.30pm.
The city has received 484.2mm rainfall this season till date, which is deficit by 112.3mm, according to the weathermen.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 29.8 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees below normal, on Sunday, while it was 29.5 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees below normal, on Saturday. The minimum temperature on the other hand witnessed a slight drop with it raining all through the night. It was recorded at 26.1 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees above normal, on Saturday. For Monday, the weathermen have forecast cloudy sky with thundery development/light rain.
