KURUKSHETRA: Four boys studying in the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra were debarred from taking the B Tech (Computer Science) final semester exam for harassing a girl of their after offering her lift in their car. Two of the four students had got jobs at handsome salary in the campus placement, but NIT has told the companies to cancel their appointments.
The students who were barred from taking the exam are Manish, Umang, Pragyadeep and Mahatav. Manish and Mahtav were selected for jobs in the campus placement in March. All of them were found guilty of harassing the girl following an inquiry conducted by Prof P J Philip of the institute, which was ordered by the NIT director.
On May 15, the four boys had offered lift to their classmate who standing at the bus stop outside Kurukshetra University. "Instead of taking me to the market they moved towards Pipli town. On the way all the four of began to harass me. When I cried help they switched on the car stereo and started playing music loudly. At last I threatened to jump from the car and they stopped the vehicle at Pipli. I took an auto-rickshaw and came back to the Institute and reported the matter the director," said the complainant.
