CHANDIGARH:
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and
Sunam MLA Aman Arora asked chief minister Captain
Amarinder Singh for setting up a regulatory authority to maintain uniformity in the retail prices of vegetables in the state.
In a letter to CM, Arora said there is a rising fear amid vegetable growers of being exploited. In the absence of a regulatory authority, neither the vegetable growers were getting remunerative price for their produce, nor were the consumers getting vegetables at cheaper rates.
While middlemen were netting huge profits, the farmers were being forced to sell their produce at cheaper rates.
Arora said with the setting up of a regulatory authority, the farmers in the state would be able to get better price for their produce and the consumer would also benefit. This would also put a check on the middlemen making huge profits.
