Chandigarh: 19-year-old woman killed by lightning strike at Sukhna lake

CHANDIGARH: A 19-year-old woman was killed in a lightning strike at Sukhna lake on Thursday. However, her three friends had a narrow escape. The police handed over the body to her family members after conducting post-mortem on Friday. The woman is survived by her parents and three siblings.
According to the police, the victim identified as Tamanna, was a resident of Derrabassi, Punjab.
Cops told that Tamanna had gone with her three friends at Sukhna lake at around 4pm. Her friend told that suddenly it started to rain and they took shelter under the tree. In the meantime, lightning struck the tree and then Tamanna on her head. She fell unconscious after which her friends informed the police.
The police took Tamanna to GMSH-16, where doctors declared her brought dead and sent her body for autopsy.
The woman was working in the liquor factory at Derrabassi and her father works as a street vendor in the area.
Sector 3 police have registered a case under the section 174 of Cr.PC and have ruled out any foul play in the case.
