Chandigarh: Demolition drive in four sectors today

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) on Saturday would continue its demolition drive against violations in houses in sector 38, 40, 38 (West) and 41.
"We have constituted a team of the enforcement wing of the board. It will raze these newly-constructed illegal structures on Saturday. These are fresh violations which we identified just a few days back. The owners were given a short notice to remove the encroachments.Since they failed to do so, we will have to act as per norms," said a senior official of the CHB.
"We have constituted two special squads of the board. They are regularly moving throughout the city and preparing a detailed report on each residential property having illegal constructions. Based on the report, we are issuing notices to the owners," sources said.
The demolition cost will be recovered from the violators. As per the course of action by the CHB, in case the allottee does not stop with the ongoing illegal constructions, it will be demolished the very next day.
