CHANDIGARH: A cab driver and its three passengers had narrow escape after their car caught fire and was completely burnt down near Sector 5 here on Monday morning.
As per information given by the car owner and driver of the car Sunil Kumar, a resident of Jind district in
Haryana, around 10.30am, when he was going with three of his passengers and reached near Sector 5 here, he saw smoke coming out of the car's hood.
He immediately came out of the car and told all three passengers to come out as well as it was an emergency. When all passengers came out of the car, Sunil immediately took out the fire extinguisher from the car and tried to extinguish the fire in the engine but it became a blaze.
In no time, the fire spread to the car's interiors and the vehicle was engulfed in the fire. Sunil dialled up the police control room and a
PCR Gypsy parked in the next parking lot came for help and called the fire station.
By the time the fire tenders came and managed to stop the fire, only the car's frame was left behind while all other things had turned to ashes.
Sunil said that, "The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. It is a major loss to me as I was earning my living through it."
Cops said that, "No injury or loss of any life was reported. The investigation is going on." The reason behind the fire in the car is stated to be a short-circuit.
