Chandigarh Housing Board demolishes 14 illegal structures in Sec 45
The enforcement wing carried out demolition drive in 14 cases in Secor-45 where the allottees did not stop the fresh constructions
CHANDIGARH: The enforcement wing of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) on Wednesday demolished 14 illegal structures in Sector 45. In the last five days, the enforcement wing had identified 35 cases of fresh construction. The staff had even issued on the spot challans to the violators.
The enforcement wing carried out demolition drive in 14 cases in Secor-45 where the allottees did not stop the fresh constructions even on issuance of challan and notice-cum-demolition orders.
In remaining cases since the allottees had stopped the further construction, they have been given three days’ time to remove the violations failing which the CHB will demolish the additional construction.
In case of demolition by the CHB, the demolition cost will be recovered from violator.
To ensure effective action against fresh illegal and unauthorized constructions, the dedicated enforcement division had identified 35 fresh un-authorized Constructions/Alterations during last five days and on the site challans have been issued in such cases.
As per the procedure decided by the CHB, in case the allottee do not stop the ongoing illegal constructions, the same will be demolished on very next day. However if the ongoing illegal construction are stopped, the allottee will have three days time to remove the violations. After three days, the CHB team will make a fresh inspection and in case of non-removal of the violations, a demolition programme, at the risk and cost of the allottee, will be scheduled to demolish the violations.
A senior CHB official said that though required precautions are taken during the demolition but there is possibility that adjoining structures may get damaged and the alloteee will be responsible for such extra damage to own or adjoining units.
