CHANDIGARH: Setting up of animal carcass incinerator plant in the city, disposal of kiosks situated in Sector 48,
multiple projects for upgradation of infrastructure in
Manimajra, and overall development of 13 villages that recently merged with the Chandigarh municipal corporation are some of the key agenda items that will come up for a detailed discussion and approval during MC's monthly House meeting scheduled for Friday.
Since paucity of finances is the core issue during this ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, some agendas are those funds for which had come to the UT in the shape of deposit money last year and rest of the agendas are related to the policy decisions. The Covid-19 pandemic related expenditure and works done during this ongoing pandemic is also a key agenda of discussion.
Setting-up of animal carcass incinerator plant in the city has been a long, pending issue due to space crunch and now the authority has identified space for the project that is away from human habitation. Earlier, the project was planned adjoining the
garbage processing plant situated near Daddumajra and had to face
public ire. People were opposing the plant near residential area and as a result the MC was facing major problem to make public consensus over it.
