Chandigarh: Two held with heroin, 1,500 banned capsules

CHANDIGARH: The police have arrested two persons with contraband and banned medicines from Hasllomajra and Maloya in Punjab’s Chandigarh.
The accused have been identified as Harinder alias Machi, a resident of Hallomajra village, and Vikas, a resident of Sector 25 in Chandigarh.
The Chandigarh police were patrolling near the Deep Complex in Hallomajra, when cops noticed a suspicious man coming towards them.
When Harinder noticed the cops, he tried to flee but was chased and later arrested.
The police said that they recovered 1,500 banned capsules from his possession. The accused failed to show any bills or permit of the banned medicines which he carried with him.
The cops seized the capsules and arrested him under the sections of NDPS Act.
In the second case, Vikash was arrested near Satsang Bhawan in Maloya with 10 grams of heroin by the police. The police were at a naka, when the accused noticed the police check post and tried to escape but was caught.
The police have produced both the accused before the local court and sent them in 14 days police remand on Wednesday.
Till date of this month, the police have arrested 29 drug peddlers from different parts of the city with heroin, banned injectable vials, banned medicines, capsules and ganja. All the accused have been lodged in Burail jail.
