CRIKC mulling to expand to north, North-East states
The step has been suggested to collaboratively address the problems of remotest areas
CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) is mulling to expand from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and north-eastern states to various industrial cities like Ludhiana to collaboratively address the problems of remotest areas/industries. Panjab University vice-chancellor and CRICK president Prof Raj Kumar said this during an industry-academia meet named as Medical Device Innovation Cluster (MDIC) at Panjab University.

Inaugurating the meet, the PU vice-chancellor said CRICK is completely ready for collaboration with industrial sector. He shared about the involvement of more than 50 industrial houses of Ludhiana in the business meet organised by Panjab University.
He talked about opening laboratory facilities of Panjab University for 24x7. I S Paul, MD, Drish Shoes, Chandigarh, endorsed the views of Prof Kumar and assured full support in making Chandigarh region as one of the leading centres of industry-academia interface. He also emphasized on the necessity of reducing carbon footprints for future product development. P J Singh, MD, Tynor, Mohali, suggested that CRIKC should set up a dedicated unit which should ease the functioning of industry-academia functioning.
Punjab Pollution Control Board chairperson Prof S S Marwaha appreciated the concept of CRIKC and implored that its member institutes have the potential to solve problems like environmental pollution. Suresh Sharma, CMD, Allengers, Chandigarh, emphasised on the need for regular follow-ups and review meetings for stream lining the working of industry-academia collaborations.
