Engineer, lecturer join as temporary bus conductor, driver in HR
Hisar: As the state government struggled to hire drivers and conductors to run buses of Haryana Roadways (HR), whose workers are on strike since October 15, many well-educated candidates have started lining up for the job. An electrical engineer Vikram Kumar has joined the state carrier a temporary bus conductor while a lecturer of a private college, Sucha Singh, has joined as a driver.

Vikram, who is from Naraingarh town of Ambala district, said he worked in a private firm before taking up the job of a conductor in the state roadways department. Newly-appointed driver Sucha is from Tandwal village of Ambala.
During his journey, Vikram told the passengers that his father was an HR employee. He said since his father was on leave, he joined the duty to cover up for him. “Being the son of an HR worker, my father’s colleagues, who are on strike, didn’t object to my joining as a conductor,” he said.
On the other hand, Sucha said even though he had been hired for three months, he decided to give up his job as a college lecturer to take up the steering wheel. “I have already resigned as a lecturer before taking up the job of a driver. I don’t know what will happen after three months,” he said with a worry on his face.
