Ex-ASI’s son among 4 held with drugs
Chandigarh: Police arrested four drug peddlers, including the son of a former assistant sub-inspector, from different parts of the city in the past 24 hours.
Police seized 66.41g heroin from their possession.
While three men were nabbed by the crime branch of UT police, another peddler was arrested by Sector 39 police.
The accused were identified as Manish Kumar, 27, a resident of new police line, Sector 26; Laksh Mohan, 24, a resident of Zirakpur; Sunny Arora, 34, a resident of Dhakoli, Zirakpur; and Saket of Phase VII, Mohali.

DSP (crime branch) Amroa Singh said a police party was checking motorists near Sports Complex in Sector 7 on Tuesday night when cops noticed a man walking towards them. But the pedestrian, who was later identified as Manish Kumar, tried to flee as soon as he saw the patrolling party.
But police nabbed him and during his search, cops found 25.3 g heroin from his pockets.
During interrogation, it was discovered that the youth was a son of retired cop of UT police. Manish’s father had retired only a few months back, the DSP added.

In second case, the crime branch arrested Sunny Arora from near a park in Sector 56 at 10.30pm. The police team was checking commuters when Sunny drove to the spot. Though he tried to flee after he noticed cops, he was nabbed by the police team. On search, police found 25g heroin from his pocket, the DSP said.
Third accused Laksh Mohan was arrested by the crime branch from near Kalagram light point. He was found carrying 10g heroin.
The DSP (crime branch) said all the accused were addicted to drugs and used to bring heroin from Delhi and sold the same to other addicts in the city.
Saket was arrested by Sector 39 police from Sector 50. During his search, police seized 1.11g heroin from him.
All the accused, booked under NDPS Act, were produced before the local court which sent them to 14-day judicial custody.
Box: Cop’s son was nabbed
On July 8, Sector 36 police had arrested the son of a serving sub-inspector with 5.3g heroin. Accused Anil Tanwar lived in the police colony of Sector 42.
