CHANDIGARH: It seems that the municipal corporation has turned a deaf ear to the plaints made by the residents about low water supply in their respective areas. Residents of various sectors are complaining that from past two months they have been raising the matter with the civic body authorities but all in vain.
Residents of sectors 8, 9, 15, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 38 and 44 have made several complaints through various platforms to the area councillor and the MC about low water pressure and insufficient supply on first and second floors.

During a visit to various sectors, residents told TOI how they have to book tankers to meet their daily requirement of water. People who live on the upper floors are tired fetching buckets of water from the ground floor. There has been erratic water supply for the past two months, and residents said that the authorities are unable to provide adequate water supply in various sectors.
Acknowledging the issue, Ravinder Kaur, area councillor for sectors 34, 35, and 44 said wherever there is a demand for water by residents she contacts the concerned department to provide tankers. “We are planning to meet concerned department officials to figure out a permanent solution to the problem,” she said. She added that she will be visiting Kajauli to find out the exact reason as to why there is an erratic water supply. Maheshinder Singh Sidhu, area councillor for ward number 1, said, “According to me, the pipelines at Kajauli have been repaired. There would be proper water supply in the evening hours. For now, tankers are being provided by the MC to tackle the water scarcity.” He added that the corporation has increased the water supply by tankers this year.
Ruchi, 54, a resident of Sector 8B had to call her neighbours to lift buckets of water for her to the first floor to fill the tank. Residents have raised the matter with the MC many a times but this time even drinking water is a scarce.
