For Covid-19 awareness: Live marathon online music sessions in Chandigarh
CHANDIGARH: With the song 'Hum honge kamyab' (We shall overcome), volunteer organisation Younglinks has started its Wake Up Call 2.0 mission of spreading awareness and positiveness in the times of Covid-19.
Five years ago, Wake Up Call 1 helped Nepal after the earthquake by raising Rs 1.46 crore for relief. Now its second avatar helps India fight Covid-19 with online live music, bringing together artists and bands from the north region in a massive virtual jam session.
Popular bands Local Train, Laman, Deepak Rathore Project, Nalayak, Soul Portrait, Swastik , Punk Nissi Band, and Tape Recorder, besides folk artists from Himachal Pradesh, support the cause.

The idea of Wake Up Call 2.0 originated over a telephone call and was about passing on the message of 'we shall overcome', telling people to stay positive during the coronavirus outbreak. Since this is time of social distancing, the artists joined live sessions on Younglinks' Instagram handle @wakeupcall2.0.
The music sessions are conducted every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, under the name Janata Live. The Wednesday and Saturday sessions are about entertainment for hope and positiveness and include interviews of young YouTubers. Music bands Zephyr, Abhigya, The Taperecorder, YouTuber Harry Verma, and fashion designer Shruti Jamaal were among the first supporters.
The Sunday sessions are for information dissemination and include interviews on different aspects of Covid-19. YouTubers Dragtaji, Riti, Mohit, Amit, Arzoo, and Kajal form the host team, supported by editors, writers, and marketing professionals working at the back end.
