CHANDIGARH: The enforcement wing of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) on Saturday demolished four illegal structures in Sector 56, taking the total number of demolished illegal constructions in the city to 20, said an official.
The team has also identified 48 fresh cases of illegal constructions in the city, he said and added that the enforcement wing personnel have already issued on-the-spot challans to the violators.

On August 7, the CHB had demolished 14 such structures in Sector 45. Thereafter, on August 10, two such structures were demolished in Dadumajra colony.
The CHB official said that in the remaining cases, most of the allottees have started removing the violations, while in some cases, the allottees have not stopped further constructions. These illegal constructions will be demolished soon and the demolition cost will be recovered from the violator, he said.
According to the procedure decided upon by the CHB, in case the allottee does not stop the ongoing illegal constructions, the same will be demolished the very next day. However, if the ongoing illegal constructions are stopped, the allottee will be given three days to remove the violations. After the stipulated time period, the CHB officials will conduct a fresh inspection and in case of non-removal of the violations, a demolition programme, at the risk and cost of the allottee, will be scheduled to raze such structures.
The official said that although necessary precautions are being taken during the demolitions, still there is a possibility that adjoining structures may get damaged. The alloteee will be solely responsible for any demolition-related damage to their own or adjoining units, he added.
