“This is 550th Parkash Purb and it is a grand occasion. But at the same time, two other big developments have taken place just two days ago. Modi ji has taken the big step of opening the Kartarpur corridor, we will give him the credit. With this, some balm on the wounds of Partition would be applied and amity will increase as preached by Guru Nanak Dev ji. It is a very big positive development,” Khattar said in his address in chaste Punjabi.
“Another major development has taken place that five centuries old dispute of Ram Janambhoomi has been resolved by the Supreme Court just two days ago without leading to any conflict or tension. The Ayodhya dispute has been resolved to the satisfaction of both the communities and there is no sense of victory of loss to either side and social amity has been maintained, I think these days are will be remembered forever. I think it is the blessing of Guru Sahib that when we are taking to the world his message of amity and harmony it has perhaps worked that such contentious and old dispute has been so easily and seamlessly without any conflict,” Khattar said. He also spoke about the life and teaching of Guru Nanak.

In his address, apart from talking about teachings of Guru Nanak, Himachal CM Jai Ram Thakur said he was very happy that that due to Modi’s personal initiative, Kartarpur corridor had been opened. “It is a historical occasion for the country and I praise the Union government for this big initiative,” he said. He also said at a meeting PM had asked the CMs of different states to ensure that 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak should be celebrated at grand scale and with great reverence.
Odisha speaker Surjya Narayan Patro also addressed the congregation from the SGPC pandal. SGPC chief secretary Roop Singh also mentioned that recently Himachal government organised a big ‘nagar kirtan’ (religious procession). Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal and SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal were also present on the occasion. Unlike thin presence of devotees in the SGPC pandal on Sunday, there was good turnout of devotees at the venue on Monday.
