Haryana rains: Govt seeks report of losses within 4 days

Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Captain Abhimanyu has directed the concerned officers to submit the report within next four days, about assessment of loss in the State due to heavy rains on September 24 so that Government could provide relief for the damage.

CHANDIGARH: Haryana revenue and disaster management minister Captain Abhimanyu has directed the concerned officers to submit the report within next four days, about assessment of loss in the state due to heavy rains on September 24 so that government could provide relief for the damage.
He said that already Girdavari is being done for the damage due to rains in the state from last few days.
And thus, the losses occurred due to rains today could also be included in this Girdavari.
Captain Abhimanyu said that the government is keeping vigil on the situation and all the officials have been instructed to stay alert. He said that there were heavy rains in entire north India on September 24 and the government received complaints through various sources about loss of crops in the state and waterlogging. In this regard, he has immediately issued instructions to the department of revenue and disaster management. Besides this the concerned officers have been directed to send the complete report within next four days about the damage that people incurred because of rains. He also gave instructions to the concerned to take immediate steps for water drainage from the village or cities wherever there is waterlogging.
He said that information regarding damage to paddy and other crops have also been received. After this the department has been directed to include this damage in this ongoing special Girdavari process so that the farmers could be provided with relief for their damaged crops. It is significant to mention that the meteorological department has also cautioned about rains in Haryana on September 25, though the light red alert has been issued in place of red alert for rain in the state. It is believed that on September 25 there will not be so heavy rain as it was on September 24.
