Haryana: Sub-inspector held for molesting woman
CHANDIGARH: A sub-inspector of the Haryana police has been arrested for allegedly molesting a woman in Chandigarh's sector 23 on Wednesday morning. The accused was produced before the local court and released on bail.
Police said that Sukhwinder Singh (40) was posted in sector 5 police station in Panchkula.
In her complaint, a resident of sector 25 alleged that she has been working as a sweeper with the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.

Around one month ago, when she was sweeping the roads in sector 23, the accused asked her to clean his house. She alleged that as she entered his house, the accused started molesting her and tried to outrage her modesty in his house. However, she managed to escape. The woman also alleged that after this incident, the accused again called her to his house for "cleaning", but she did not go to his house.
On Tuesday, the woman told the wife of the accused about the incident. Next day when she reached sector 23, the accused started abusing her, following which she informed her colleagues and as well as the police.
The sector 17 police station personnel then reached the spot while the mayor also came there. Later, police also recorded the statement of the woman and registered a case under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354 A (making sexually coloured remarks) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC against the sub-inspector and arrested him.
