HISAR: The police have registered a case against a Hisar couple for allegedly assaulting and confining a special police officer (SPO), who had visited them to serve a notice of the Punjab and Haryana high court on Saturday evening. An injured SPO Bhopal Singh has been admitted to the general hospital for treatment.
A Hisar police spokesperson said a case has been registered on the complaint of Bhopal Singh against Vikash and his wife Jyoti, residents of Aryanagar of the city, under sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to public servant), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 506 (criminal intimidation), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.

In the statement given to the police, Bhopal Singh, who is undergoing treatment in the hospital, said he is posted at Azad Nagar police station as an SPO and serving summons and warrants is part of his duty.
“The police station had received a notice from the high court in the name of Vikash and to serve that notice, he reached their Aryanagar address around 6.30pm on Saturday evening. A person came from inside the house and said his name was Vikash Kumar,” he said in the statement.
“I told him about the notice and asked him to sign it and take it. But, Vikash started fighting. Hearing the noise, his wife Jyoti also came there and both started a scuffle with him and refused to take the notice.”
He said the two accused dragged him to a room inside the house and closed the door from outside. “After repeatedly informing them about the high court notice, they finally opened the door and received the notice,” he added.
