Kartarpur corridor: Sunny Deol inspects ongoing construction work

Bollywood star-turned-politician Sunny Deol, the newly-elected member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, reviewed ongoing construction work of Kartarpur Corridor on Saturday at Dera Baba Nanak during his maiden visit to his constituency after being elected as the BJP MP last month.

DERA BABA NANAK: Bollywood star-turned-politician Sunny Deol, the newly-elected member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, reviewed ongoing construction work of Kartarpur Corridor on Saturday at Dera Baba Nanak during his maiden visit to his constituency after being elected as the BJP MP last month.
Accompanied by Jeetendra Singh, CEO of Ceigall India Ltd, which is constructing the highway and bridge on the Indian side of the Kartarpur corridor, senior Gurdaspur police and civil administration officials besides officials of Border Security Force, Deol, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, inspected various construction projects under the Kartarpur corridor.

In a brief interaction with the media, Deol appreciated the pace of the ongoing work of the corridor and assured that it would be completed by due date. He said visiting Dera Baba Nanak to review the corridor construction work was on top of his agenda during visit to his constituency adding that he would visit frequently from now on.
Jeetendra said Sunny also saw construction activities across the border with telescope and expressed concern over halted construction activities from international border to Pakistan’s dhussi bunds. The MP also inquired about the work on the integrated check post (ICP) at Dera Baba Nanak.
BJP’s Gurdaspur district president Balkrishan Mittal said that Deol met BJP leaders and workers and discussed projects to be completed on priority.
“He (Sunny Deol) has emphasised to first complete the projects which have already been cleared or were in the pipeline. The project for the construction of two bridges at the cost of Rs 68 crore and Rs 69 crore, respectively over the River Ravi at Makora Pattan will be initiated soon,” Mittal said, adding that Deol also expressed concern about salary issue of the Dhariwal mill.
The Gurdaspur MP, who is likely to return to Mumbai on Sunday, was also apprised about the issue of under bridges at Dera Baba Nanak where rainwater collects during the rainy season, causing inconvenience to commuters, Mittal said and added the MP expressed desire to visit the spot during his next visit.
