Khap leaders, athletes amid 50 brand ambassadors for Jind marathon
Jind: 50 persons, including khap leaders, members of social organisations and famous sportspersons, have been announced as brand ambassadors of the marathon to be held in Jind on January 23. These 50 brand ambassadors will be entrusted with the task of ensuring maximum participation of public in the marathon.
Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar will be flagging off the marathon named ‘Hariyana ka dil jeeto’ at 7.30am.
12,000 participants have registered so far for the marathon.
Special officer to CM and additional director general of police O P Singh, while addressing a press conference here on Saturday said main motto of the marathon race is to help youngsters realise the importance of good health, and motivate them to stay away from drugs and crime. Singh said there are races of 5km, 11km, 21km and 41km in which Rs 5 lakh will be awarded to the winners. Singh claimed that this marathon will break record of all past events conducted in various districts of the state.
While participating in the meeting, khap leader who is also one of the brand ambassadors, said all sections of society will participate in the marathon. He added that he himself will ensure maximum participation of villagers in the marathon.
Arjun awardee Om Prakash Dhull, international player Minakshi, silver medallist in Asian games Hardeep Singh, and Satish Kumar, a silver medallist in commonwealth games are some of the brand ambassadors.
