CHANDIGARH: Major General RS Mann on Monday took over as the 6th additional director general (
ADG), NCC of the directorate of Punjab, Haryana,
Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.
The general officer has served in varied terrain and appointments including overseas, and holds multiple military and academic qualifications, including Ph.D from IIT Delhi. He has replaced Maj Gen Jugesh Chaudhry,who has been superannuated.
The NCC directorate of Punjab, Haryana, HP and Chandigarh comprises of eight group HQs which are located at Chandigarh, Ambala, Rohtak, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and
Shimla to co-ordinate activities of NCC.
Under these groups there are 40 boys battalions, 11 girls battalions, 3 Remount and Veterinary (R&V) squadron, 6 Naval units and 8 Air Sqadrpns covering 1,50,361 sq kms in 56 districts. NCC Units under the directorate are imparting training to a total of 1,21,960 cadets both boys and girls cadets in 1724 colleges and schools of the region.
