CHANDIGARH: The police on Monday relieved three DSPs with immediate effect so that they could join their new assignment at Delhi following the orders of the ministry of home affairs (MHA).
The three are DSP (woman Cell) Chepyala Anjitha, DSP (police lines) Satish Kumar and DSP (crime and PRO) Pawan Kumar of DANIPS cadre (Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Services).
The relieving orders of all eight DANIPS cadre officers from Chandigarh to other places were issued by the ministry of home affairs in December 2017, but a panel of DSPs had moved the Punjab and Haryana high court.
The ministry in its notification on September 25, 2018, stated DSPs working in Chandigarh will come under the DANIPS cadre, which effectively means that they could be transferred out of Chandigarh to other union territories - Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Dadar and Nagar Haveli. The notification also brought down the share of Chandigarh DSPs to half (from 17 to nine). The move was prompted by disputes between local officials and instances of insubordination.
