The
Department of Laws,
Panjab University, organized national seminar on the topic ‘Law and
Socio-Economic Transformation’ on Thursday. Several topics including legislation and socio-economic change,
judicial activism and socio-economic Change, law and social change, etc were touched during the seminar.
Justice Hemant Gupta from the Supreme Court of India was also present during the event, which saw participants from all over India taking part. The event stressed on the fact that socio-economic development is to be interpreted in the light of the constitution of India.
Later, justice Hemant Gupta gave the account of various judgements that brought various socio-economic changes in the nation. The seminar witnessed more than 100 participants.
