NIT Jalandhar and University of Florence, Italy sign MoU

National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with University of Florence, Italy (World ranking within top 500) with approval of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

JALANDHAR: National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with University of Florence, Italy (World ranking within top 500) with approval of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
NIT director Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi and Department of Biotechnology associate professor Dr. Nitai Basak, visited University of Florence, Italy and held various academic meetings and interactions with University of Florence Rector Prof.
Luigi Dei, dean of International Relations Prof. Francesco Ferrini and others.
NIT director said that both the institutions intended to establish an exchange programme initially in the fields of Biotechnology and Processes Engineering for Biofuel Production, between the Department of Agrifood Production and Environmental Sciences (DISPAA) of University of Florence, Italy and Department of Biotechnology (BT), NIT Jalandhar. Both the two Institutions have the right to include other Departments as well in this existing MOU.
He said that the main activities that are covered under the MoU are faculty exchange, student exchange, research collaborations, joint applications for funding and other academic and research exchanges. “The Institute has already some successful international collaborations and MoU with University of Florence is a step towards this direction.
“Exchange visits of members of teaching and research staff of the units. Visits are intended to promote seminars, courses, conferences, lectures, workshops, to carry out joint research projects, to discuss experiences in fields of common interest,” he said.
