Elderly couple found dead at their residence in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: An elderly couple was found dead under mysterious circumstances with their throats slit on their bed at sector 40 on Sunday morning.
Police suspect that man killed himself after slitting his wife’s throat at his residence. Police have also recovered a suicide note in which he held nobody responsible for their deaths. Sector 39 police have kept the bodies at morgue for mortuary and started investigation.
Police told that deceased have been identified as Luxmi Das, 77 and his wife Shashi Bala 74 , resident of sector 40.
Vineet Kumar, SP, crime, UT police told that incident came into light at around 8am, when victim’s son reached home from morning walk and found the house bolted from inside. He knocked the door but his parents did not respond. On this, he broke the window and entered in the house and found both lying on the bed in the pool of blood.
He informed the police about the incident. Cops from sector 39 police reached the spot and during preliminary investigation they found that throats of both victims were slit, and found knife from the bathroom. Later, police found suicide note in which Luxmi Das had written that he was fed up with the disease and treatment of his wife Shashi Bala. She was bedridden for more than three years and couldn't even walk.
CFSL team also reached the spot and collected evidences from crime scene for examination. Police kept the bodies of both victim at mortuary of GMSH-16 for autopsy and said the exact reason of death would only be known after the autopsy report. Statements of family members and other relatives are being recorded by cops to ascertain the exact reason behind the deaths of couple, cop said.
