Meanwhile, the authorities will be recovering extra payments of Rs 60 lakh made to the contractor.
“In an MC report, employees and the audit department have been directed to explain as to why no objections were raised on contractor payments by the officials concerned,” sources said.

In a report, which was submitted to MC commissioner Rajesh Jogpal on February 6, serious flaws were pointed out. It was mentioned that the officials, who released the funds, did not follow guidelines set by the government.
“We are committed to implementing government’s policy of zero tolerance against corruption. We have conducted effective and expeditious inquiry into the matter and are taking strict action against erring officers. The extra payments of Rs 60 lakh made to the contractor will be recovered with immediate effect,” Jopal said.
On December 28, 2018, Jogpal constituted a committee, which submitted its report on the technical aspects of the work. The committee was constituted after finding that sub-standard material was used while revamping eight roundabouts in the city.
