CHANDIGARH: Punjab government on Saturday issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for places of worship, hotels and shopping malls, which have been allowed to open from June 8.
These guidelines are in addition to instructions issued by the Central government. Any violation of the guidelines will be punishable under section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, besides legal action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

As per the guidelines, loitering in the shopping malls will not be allowed and those entering a mall will have to install the Cova App of their phone. Entry into the mall will be on a token system to adhere to the maximum capacity, which the management will fix on the basis of maintaining 6 feet distance.
The management will be responsible for ensuring the maximum capacity of the mall is displayed and not more than 50% of maximum capacity should be allowed to enter. Use of lift has been prohibited except in case of disabled persons or in medical emergencies. Use of escalators has been allowed with distancing.
Restaurants will be remaining open only for take away and home delivery. There will be no dine-in facility till further order. In case of hotels, restaurants will remain closed and food will be served in the rooms. The hotel management will have to ensure strict enforcement of night curfew and movement of individuals will be allowed only from 5am to 9pm.
Places of worship will remain open from 5am to 8pm and not more than 20 people will be allowed to enter the premises at a time. There is a ban on distribution of parsad and langar.
