CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has estimated the damage to crops and infrastructure, both public and private, by the floods at Rs 1,700 crore.
The Punjab CM, Captain Amarinder Singh has sought immediate relief of Rs 1,700 from the Centre. Punjab chief secretary Karan Avtar Singh held video conferencing with the national crisis management committee under the chairmanship of the cabinet secretary, Government of India, to review the flood situation.

The committee was apprised about the situation and efforts by the state government. Following release of water from Bhakra Dam and heavy rainfall in the catchment and the downstream areas of the Sutlej around 150 villages in Ropar, Nawanshahr, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Kapurthala, Moga, Tarn Taran and Ferozepur were hit by floods.
