Shut illegal backdoors: Pkl MC writes to Huda

Panchkula: Illegal backdoors that open on the main roads have worried the municipal corporation so much that the estate officer (EO) has written to the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) counterpart for action against the offending house owners.
EO O P Sihag wrote in the letter that the house owners have even started parking their vehicles on the roads where these rear gates open. This violation of the law creates problems for the commuters and makes Panchkula ugly.
“As it is the responsibility of the MC to maintain the city’s sanitation and beauty, I have requested the Huda officials to take a stern action against the violators,” Sihag said.
A local resident welfare association reported that the house owners even encroached upon the bicycle tracks that the MC had laid recently. “The hang their washed linen over clotheslines tied one end to their rear gates and the other to the roadside trees.
Panchkula resident welfare association (RWA) president R K Aggarwal said: “Illegal construction defaces the city. A strict action is required against the owners of houses with backdoors that open on roads and bicycle tracks.”
A source in the MC recalled that a couple of years ago, directions from the Punjab and Haryana high court had forced the Haryana Housing Board and Huda to check this building violation and close the illegal rear gates.
