CHANDIGARH: As Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has started its exercise to resume the smart parking in the city, traders of the city want reasonable hike and trader friendly parking policy for them.
Traders of city have already met senior MC officers and city mayor in this regard few days back. Traders had urged that since they have to come to their shops frequently, MC must issue passes to them on reasonable rates.

Moreover, the traders have also offered MC that they are able to run few parking lots, located in the commercial areas of the city and they have even submitted the names of the parking lots, they want to run.
Now the MC has been preparing the MoU of few parking lots, which may be considered to give to the traders to run on trial based on no profit no loss basis.
Significantly, as MC is going to finalise the smart parking system of the city, the civic body authority has added over 30 more paid parking lots, located in different commercial areas of the city.
The MC has already constituted a sub-committee, which has been preparing the terms and condition and other parameters to run the smart paid parking lots in the city. The city has been plagued with parking problems in certain sectors of the city. If implemented the new system could come as a reprieve for vehicle owners in the UT.
