A soldier has been booked for allegedly raping a Hisar woman on pretext of marriage after contacting her through a matrimonial website and later refusing to marry her. ​

HISAR: A soldier has been booked for allegedly raping a Hisar woman on pretext of marriage after contacting her through a matrimonial website and later refusing to marry her.
Hisar women police station has registered a case against the soldier, posted in Allahabad, on complaint of 28-year-old woman under Sections 376 (2) (n) (continuous rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.

The survivor in her complaint alleged the accused had contacted her via a matrimonial website and had sent her a marriage proposal, which she accepted. After that, the accused started speaking to her on the phone. On October 13, the accused called her to a hotel in Hisar and both stayed there for the night and he became intimate with her. She alleged the accused called her to the same hotel on October 24 and both got physically intimate.
The survivor alleged the accused later called her to Allahabad on November 23 and she stayed with him till November 25 and he had sexual relations with her on promise of marriage.
In the complaint, the woman said she later found out that the accused was marrying another woman and approached the police on December 18.
Alleging that the accused sought forgiveness on learning about the police complaint, she said the soldier gave her an assurance of marriage at a temple of a Hisar village. When the survivor reached temple, she alleged, the accused left and said he would not marry her.
After registering a case in the matter, police investigation has been handed over to the woman assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sukhpal Kaur and the accused is yet to be arrested.
