UBS students on new high, average pay packages go up
Around 83% students of the 2017-19 batch have been placed
CHANDIGARH: The students of the university business school, Panjab University, Chandigarh, have all the reasons to celebrate as upon completion of the first leg of placements of class of 2019, students have set new benchmark by crossing the double-digit average CTC figure.
The average salary package of University Business School (UBS), Panjab University, has increased to Rs 11 lakh per annum this year, which was Rs 9 lakh per annum last year.

“Around 83% students of the 2017-19 batch have been placed. The placements are still going on for the remaining students,” said UBS chairperson Deepak Kapur, while addressing mediapersons here on Wednesday.
Kapur said 17% students have been placed in banking and finance sector institutions (BFSI) like HDFC Bank, HDFC Life, SBI Life, ICICI Prudential and 7.1% got placed in FMCG and FMCD companies like Tolaram Group, Volvo, Mahindra and TVS. 25.9% students have been placed in IT firms like Infosys, IBM etc and 15.5% in manufacturing firms like Trident, SKF etc.
“Around 40% of the companies that visited the UBS were first-time recruiters. These companies ranged from diverse sectors like IT, manufacturing, FMCG and FMCD, research, consulting and advisory and technology and e-commerce,” said Kapur.
He said the batch had also witnessed an improvement in job profiles and their relevance with the course as various roles offered during the placements were brand manager, product manager, project finance, corporate banking, project manager, supply chain manager, talent acquisition, HR advisory etc.

“It is gratifying to witness remarkable placement season. We also had a corporate trainer to train our students for group discussions and personal interviews. The faculty members also made sure that they are available to students all time,” said Kapur. Nandit Gupta, student placement coordinator, gave a presentation on the placement report.
However, the B-school of the university faces a faculty crunch of around 15 members and has opened applications for the upcoming batch and registration forms are available till January 15, 2019.
Last year, the average salary was Rs 9 lakh per annum and in 2017, the average salary was Rs 7.58 lakh per annum. The highest stipend for summer internship in 2018 was Rs 60,000 per month. In 2016-17, the highest package of Rs 15 lakh per annum was offered to three students of the UBS. However, in the 2015-16 session, seven MBA students had bagged the highest package of Rs 21 lakh per annum. In 2014-15, the highest package was Rs 13 lakh per annum.
