CHANDIGARH: The Railways will be running a glass-enclosed
vistadome coach on the 96-km Kalka-Shimla route from Tuesday. The new coach, which will allow passengers experience beauty of lush green forests and hills through glass ceiling, will have 36 seats.
The travelers can also book their ride online. The
coach that has modified windows, air conditioning system, designer LED lights, window blinds and cushioned wooden interiors will be attached to Kalka-Shimla express (train number 52453-52454).
"The fare would be charged on end-to-end basis. Children below five years of age will be able to travel free of cost. Initially, an adult will have to pay Rs 130, including Rs 15 reservation charge, for one side journey. Similarly, fare for a child in the age group of 5 to 12 years will be Rs 75, including Rs 15 reservation charge, for one side journey," railway officials said.
"Ahead of the tourist season, the move is expected to enhance tourist experience," the officials added.
